i like presents

Completely irrelevant to this post but LOOK WHAT MY BROTHER GOT ME FROM NEW YORK AAAAHHH. Obviously the peanut butter cups are the most awesome of the lot.

Just wanted to do a little update explaining why I've been so slack on blogging recently! I started my new job last week, which has been going pretty well. I haven't worked since October so having a routine again is taking some getting used to. Also I have to keep reminding myself that I can no longer go to bed at 3am as it will result in extreme grumpiness when I wake up at 7am. By the time I get home all I want to do is watch The Only Way is Essex and sleep. This is ridiculous as it's not like I've done any actual work yet - all we've been doing is sitting in a room watching videos about workplace health & safety and manual handling. It's so tiring trying to look interested and attentive all the time! I have my first shift of actual work on Monday night, which is the Il Divo concert, so that should be pretty cool.

Also sometime next week I'm going to be setting up a sort of "shop my closet" thingo. I have heaps of clothes and a bit of makeup that I want to sell so that I can make room for more clothes and makeup. Hurray! I hope you'll check out my little shop when it's up and running. Farewell!

polka dots & blazers

Blazer: Sunnygirl
Dress: Sportsgirl
Necklace: Christmas present
Shoes: Dorothy Perkins

I'm sorry that my last two outfit posts have also involved the wearing of this blazer, I JUST REALLY LIKE IT OKAY?!! It's a pretty colour and it is a good length and it has stripey turned-up sleeves and aaahhh. Favourite. I've been wearing it over the top of this polka dot dress a lot lately. It is swishy and girly and is a good mood generator. Also my owl necklace makes jingly noises. Jingle jingle. I think this is my favourite kind of outfit to wear - a cute little dress with a blazer over the top. Bonus points if it includes oxfords and animal-related jewellery. I can't wait until winter (for all the five weeks it lasts for, boohoo) so I can throw on some tights and a scarf as well. And perhaps even this or this. Am I a human or mythical creature? Nobody will ever know.

My last post saw me complain about my lack of work. I write to you now as a professional employed woman! Well, maybe not very professional, or a woman* (ohoho now you're confused aren't you?), but definitely employed. I got a job as an usher at one of the main concert venues in my city, which I think will be pretty cool. Free concert watching! Hurray! I start training next week. I'm quite looking forward to it as I haven't had much to do these holidays, but I'm sure as soon as I start back at work/uni I will be having a perpetual whinge about how much I want to go back to doing nothing. Aaahh, the woes of a lazy person.

Hope you're having a good week. Farewell!

*Just kidding. I just wanted you to read an entire paragraph with a small amount of uncertainty. What a joker I am!

1. I realised today that 5/6 of my rings are animal-related. Awesome.
2. Been making some excellent smoothies lately.
3. Sammy is tired.
4. So is Ferg.
5. Two of them are for me because I'm a piggie.
6. Practising my attractive face.
7. Practising our intelligent faces.
8. The case of the self-moving hair!
9. I look gooooood.
10. The Alannah Hill dress that will never be mine. Waaahh.

Hi! These are just some of my instragam photos from the last couple of weeks. I really haven't been doing that much besides getting intimate with my cats (see image four to clear up any confusion) and trying on dresses that I can't afford (see image ten to feel sorry for me). I realised today that I only have another three weeks left of holidays, and then uni starts again. Yay! But also boooo. "Yay" because I am kind of looking forward to having a routine and actually going somewhere everyday, and "boo" because I will be having a routine and going somewhere everyday. And also because I don't really like uni. But I am determined to make some new friends this year and uni seems like a pretty good place to do just that. So I guess the "yay" might outweigh the "boo". We'll see!

In other news, I went to a job trial today. It lasted all of half an hour. Blaahh. The manager told me to get there at 3pm, and I called during the week to confirm this, but when I got there she told me I was supposed to have been there at 12:30pm. Whaaaat. I had been thinking all week that 3pm was a weird starting time, because the markets close at 3pm, and even tried calling at different times during the day to double double check, but the manager's phone just went to voicemail. So when I got there she was all like "soz we're packing up now lol". The trial pretty much consisted of standing around talking about the job for half an hour, and then she told me I could go home. She told me she was sorry for the confusion, and that she would set up another trial for me in two weeks, as she will be away next week. Two weeks?! I am pretty annoyed about this. That's another two weeks without a job. It is quite poopy if you ask me.

Somebody hire me? I have excellent personal hygiene and know how 2 spel reel gud. I can tell you the storyline of every episode of The OC, and know all the words to Scary Spice's rap in Wannabe. I don't generally say things like, "I'm a real team player," or, "I like to go the extra mile," but I will fully commit to pretending that I'm a wanker who uses these phrases on a daily basis. Sometimes I might even "touch base" with you as well. Blaahhh.

Hopefully the next time we speak I will be employed! Toodle-oo.

under the sea

Blouse: Dotti
Blazer: Sunnygirl
Skirt & belt: Portmans

Well hello there! I wore this to a job interview this morning. I think it went alright, will have to wait until next week to find out if I got it or not. Hope so! I didn't want to wear a sea of black to the interview as I assume most candidates would have. So I wear my excellently coloured coral blazer. Mmmmmmm. So pretty. I must also apologise for the poopy indoor photography, as it has been raining pretty much non-stop here (ooh weather commentary, how interesting), but at least you can now become acquainted with my friend Mr Piano.

Anyway I'm going to go watch some extremely intelligent and brain-stimulating movies (St Trinians and A Cinderella Story, oh yeah) to celebrate handing in my last assignment for the semester. Later alligators!

marry me, inanimate objects.

1/2/3/4/5/6/7

I am really enjoying going shopping at the moment. Every clothing store I walk into is a magical wonderland full of Peter Pan collars and polka dots. Aahh. I wish I could spend my days frolicking amongst the clothes, drooling all over them until I get kicked out of the store. I know I allude to marrying my clothes a lot on this blog, but seriously, I would be happy to start a family with these bad boys. I've already bought the mustard dress with the remainder of the Dotti voucher that I won back in October, yet my brain is still screaming, "MORE! YOU MUST HAVE MORE!" at me. I am not insane.

Thank you for wishing me luck in my job hunting! I have another interview on Friday (to work as an usher at the Convention Centre) and a job trial for the jewellery store on Sunday. I would probably prefer to work as an usher, because that means seeing a lot of concerts for free, but really I would be happy with anything. Except prostitution. I move out of home in approximately 10 weeks (not that I'm counting), so I'll be needing the moneys to buy exciting things like washing machines and ironing boards. Yaaay. Bye!

cereal killer

Blazer: Sunnygirl
Dress: Sportsgirl
Necklace: Diva

Now you know what my kitchen looks like! How exciting. Please don't steal my box of cereal that has somehow made its way into this photo. I was planning on taking some outfit photos today, but it's raining, and there's nowhere in the house with good lighting and/or a plain coloured wall. So you can have a half-arsed mirror photo instead. Hurray!

I've had two job interviews this week! One was to work as a piano teacher, and the other was to work in a jewellery store. I don't think I got the piano teacher job because they wanted somebody who could work during the week, and unfortunately my stupid uni timetable only allows me to work from Friday - Sunday. Booooo. Such a shame because the job was really close to the place I'm moving to in April, and the manager was really nice, and I like pianos, and blaahhh.

Anyway I think I got the jewellery store job, so that's good. I'll only be working 16 hours a week or something, but that is more than enough for me to buy cake and stuff. Ha! That rhymed. What a poet. See you later!

This is what I wore yesterday to do my Uni Presentation of Doooooom. It was okay, the tutor said I passed which is all I really care about. YAY to not failing. Now I've just got three assessments left. One 3,000 word assignment, and two music assessments. For one of them I have to sing a whole bunch of songs while accompanying myself on piano, and the other I have to play drums and then xylophone. Slightly worried as I'm not a drummer or xylophonist, but I think I'll be alright. After that I have a whole month of FREEDOM ... until summer semester. Arghhh.

On another note, I quit my job! Hurray! I worked in a call centre giving out public transport information to stupid people. It was okay when I first started, but in the last few months I started to dread coming to work, days before I actually had to be there. I'm not sure why, because the majority of calls only last about 30 seconds. I guess it's because you're just sitting at the computer all day, where you can physically see on the clock in the bottom right hand corner how slow the time is going. Also I suppose it's because of those unnecessarily rude customers who treat you like shit, even though they are the ones who are calling for your services. And then I think to myself, "I can't believe people like this exist." And then afterwards I realise that they all live in Brisbane as well. Obnoxious arseholes who behave like dickheads towards total strangers. They live in Brisbane. So I guess that is also why I quit.

That turned into quite the rant, but I'm sure those of you who work in customer service will understand. I'm gonna try get a job teaching piano, which I used to do, and it was pretty fun. Also it's relevant to my degree, so that's a bonus.

Anyway! I hope you are having a good day and that you like cats. If you don't, LOOK AWAY NOW BECAUSE HERE ARE SOME PICS OF MY CATS ARRRRRRRRRRRRH

They love each other, really.

cruisin'

Bought a new car a couple of weeks ago and have only just gotten around to taking photos of it! It's way fun to drive. Took these photos on the way to work this afternoon, where I am currently writing this post because I'm such a hard worker. Here is a photo of me working hard:

Oh wait! I'm not working hard at all! My mistake.
