9-ish years later

Welcome back. I shall provide you with no updates on my life for the past nine years. You will just have to figure it out yourself through context clues.

So for the next six months or so (possibly a year), I won't be working as much as I have been the past few years. I will also be on about a quarter of my usual salary. Am I an idiot? Possibly. But I'm really cool, so I guess I've got that going for me.

Until I start my postgrad in March, I'm just going to be dicking around the house for a bit. This was my dream scenario last year. Now I am bored as batshit. Last year I watched Anne with an E and was overcome with jealousy towards Marilla Cuthbert. I know she is really fucking poor, and I know she's only got one outfit, but SHIT man. What a life. She wakes up at like 4am, milks some cows, picks some flowers, and then spends the rest of her day preparing meals for the family. Sometimes she might yell at Anne for being a big stupid feminist, and sometimes she might ride her horse to Rachel's house for a nice healthy gossip, but mainly Marilla just spends her life cooking, cleaning, gardening and being stern.

During my most stressful work moments, I wished I could have this life. I bet Marilla never had to scream at any teenagers for hooking a seagull to a fishing line in order to use it as a kite. I bet she never had to remind any children how inappropriate it is to take your shoes off during class and force other students to smell them. And she certainly would never have put up with any rat-faced HODs who, despite never so much as touching a musical instrument in all their lives, thought it prudent to inform you of how to teach the subject you've been studying your entire life. NOOO. Marilla would never. She's a bad bitch. And so am I, I guess. (Yeah gurl get it, woop woop.)

But I'm just really fucking bored now that I have a lot of time on my hands.

Anyway. These are some things I wanted to do with my time, back when I had none:

Gardening: I have literal acres of land on which to grow things. Back when I had no time, everything died. Now I have lots of time, everything shall live. Hurray!

Photography: I used to do this a lot, but I don't see much point in it anymore. I really struggle with doing things for fun if they aren't going to make me any money. Also, where do I share it? Instagram? Bleugh. So if I can't share it, and I can't make money from it, then what's the point? Yes I know. What a dumb outlook. Don't worry, I am in therapy for this. Anyway, photography. Will have to just be happy with taking amazing photos that are only destined for my desktop background.

Writing: Hey, look! I'm doing it!

YouTube: Before we moved here, I had grand plans of making a YouTube channel all about gardening, self-sufficiency and home improvement. Work got in the way of this, OF COURSE, so inevitably everything died and I became grumpier with each passing day. Also every time I make a video and post it online, I end up deleting it in a matter of hours. I bet Marilla wouldn't do that. Probably because she's fictional.

Pottery: I have to wait til March for this one, because that is when the nearest pottery club opens again after having their Christmas break. I am not even joking.

Piano/voice: I am supposed to be really good at both these things, but I never practice. Probably should sort that out.

Exercise: I went to the gym today. I also think I would like to do some yoga, but I cannot remember if I despise it or not. Will get back to you.

Business: I would like to grow mine, and also start another. I don't know what the other one is yet. I had so many ideas but they have all turned to mush in my mushy brain.

Ok that'll do. I wrote some stuff. Now I have to wee. Good day.

Hello, goodbye, and new beginnings.

Me + Burger = BEST FRIENDS (until I ate him)

Oh! OH! Ohhhhh hey there! What is this? A post? And what is the above photo? Ohhh nothing, it's just a photo of me at MY ENGAGEMENT PARTY a few weeks ago. Yep, engaged. What even is that? Look, here's a ring as proof:

Yes, friends, it seems that somebody likes me enough to put up with me for a WHOLE LIFETIME. We get married in one month. Hurray! (No, I'm not pregnant.)

Anyway, I guess what I came here to tell you was hello, and also goodbye! I am not going to be posting in this blog anymore. I don't have enough interesting outfits to share with you, and I don't do enough exciting things to take photos of. If this blog continued, it would literally be photos of my cats once every three months, because they are the pride and joy of my life. Also, over the past year or so I have felt a bit disheartened by the fact that a) most of the blogs I used to read seem to have stopped posting (like Roni, Emma and Betti), and b) I'm really sick of seeing these "c/o" clothing items that you know the bloggers are only wearing once for those particular photographs. Oh, and as an afterthought, another reason is c) "elissiam" is a stupid name. I'm just not feeling it anymore, bruv.

BUT!

I have just started a new blog called Kirsten Learns (that's me!), wherein I attempt to do things that I have always wanted to learn, but have previously been too lazy to do. These things include cooking, languages, photography, sewing ... many many things! I bought some fancy studio lights and everything so my photos and videos can be extra good. I am really excited about this, and plan to make it a proper website that can help out other people as well. It might be a bit slow to begin with because I am going on HOLIDAYS FOR TWO MONTHS in TWO WEEKS where I will be GETTING MARRIED buuuutt I would love it if you would come and visit me over there sometime, and follow me through Bloglovin if you use it.

To anyone who has ever visited, followed or commented on this blog: THANK YOU! It was fun, and I like this blog, but I want to move on to bigger, better things. I hope we can still be friends!

Bye!

brisbane

Outfit details:

Blouse: Dotti
Jeans: Forever New
Shoes: T.U.K

♥♥♥

Howdy doody! I wore this to venture into the city today. As you can see, Brisbane has some pretty dang cool buildings, which I have photographed to entice you all to come visit me. I don't go into the city very often, but today I went to watch my friend's band play in the mall. As it was a jazz band, I wanted to wear something comfortable so I could do some hippin' and a hoppin' like the young people do. Not really. I am a horrible dancer. There were some old people who were getting into it, though. Anyway! I love these jeans, they're so friggin' comfortable. I never want to be parted from them. And I got the shirt for $7 reduced from $50. SEVEN DOLLARS. Madness. What is the world coming to?!

I am going to go now because I keep making mistakes when I type. This is because I caught the ball like a mental person at netball this afternoon and bent my finger right back. I very eloquently started yelling "MOTHERFUCKER MOTHERFUCKER MOTHERRRRFUCCKKKKKER" when it happened. I am a lady. Goodbye!

These are some of the pics that I have saved to my "iNsPiRaTioN!!11" folder on my puter in the last couple of months. I wish to eminate the styles of these lovely ladies and steal their clothes. As you can see, I am definitely drawn to a more casual style and quite enjoy the look of pretty dresses, tartan, stripes, creepers and tight jeans.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to do a spot of sneaky online shopping. Teeheeheehee!

PS - I'm not going to be using Google Reader or Friend Connect anymore because a) they are soon to be no more, and b) they are poop anyway. So click here to follow me on Bloglovin' if you will. :)

i am wearing clothes

Shirt: Glassons
Dress: Dotti
Wonky lipstick: Illamasqua's "Don't Forget To Re-apply Your Lipstick After Eating Sushi" collection in the shade "I'm an Idiot".
Cats: CUTE LAND CENTRAL

♥♥♥

Oh heeeeyyyy! Check out my little kitten pals being all cute and stuff. They have been in my family for two months now! Woaahh time, slow down man.

So I suppose I should probably talk about my outfit now. I wore this for my first day back at uni today (noooooooo) and quite enjoyed wearing it. It's all loose and swishy and covered up my post-sushi food baby. Comfortable AND practical. Looking at the photos though, I don't think the cardigan photographed very well. It didn't look nearly as shitty in real life. PROMISE. This is the dress that I was wearing underneath and eeeeeeek it's so cute. I just want to put it in a pie and eat it, which is a completely normal thing to feel.

Anyway! It is 1:40am and I need to get up at 6am. Good luck, me. BYEEEEE.

twins

(the thing on the left is a lava lamp, not some weird test tube baby.)

Hello there! I would like to introduce to you my Christmas babies, Claudio and Edan. They are Ragdoll kittens and are exceptionally cute and squeeee. If my calculations are correct, there has been a 100% increase in the amount of sneezing done by me since receiving these little babies. I even put this information into a graph for you:

I think that's pretty accurate. I am a mathematician, after all. But for you, my little Ragdoll friends, I would sneeze all day every day. That's just how lovely you are.

Did anybody else receive Christmas presents as awesome as mine? My day itself was pretty excellent; I drove up to a little place in Queensland called Tuan to spend Christmas day with my boyfriend's family. I was so worn out from eating that I had a nap at about 2pm and didn't wake up until dinner time. PARTY ANIMAL IN DA HOUSE. I am sad that it is no longer Christmas, as now I have to wake up every single day until December 25th this year with the knowledge that it is not Christmas yet. WAAAAAHH.

I hope you had an excellent Christmas! Farewell!

24

It was my birthday yesterday, and HOLY CRAP I'M 24. Where did 23 go? I was content with 23. Being 24 means I'm almost 25, which is almost 30, which is almost 100, so I'm pretty much an elderly woman now. ARGHH. Clearly I haven't matured with age though, as I am still quite content to put on a party hat and play with sparklers. I'm an adult!

I had a pretty good birthday. My family came over to my house and we sat outside eating pizza and cake. My mum makes this fancy French pizza thing called a tarte flambée and it is the best thing IN THE WORLD. I implore you to force your own mothers to make this meal for you immediately. It is delicious and definitely worth getting fat over.

Speaking of eating food (when aren't I?!), there are a whoooooole bunch of leftovers in my fridge which I am now going to rub all over my face. See you later!

books galore

Books I have read recently:
The Hunger Games Trilogy by Suzanne Collins
Attachments by Rainbow Rowell (what a cool name)
The Casual Vacancy by MAGICAL GODDESS J.K Rowling

I'm going to start this post by announcing to the world that I did not actually finish The Casual Vacancy. PLEASE DON'T EXPELLIARMUS ME, JOANNE. It's not that I didn't like it, and I am sure that I will continue reading it at some stage, but I just don't find myself caring enough about the characters to keep going. Has anybody actually finished it? Because I've heard a few people say that they couldn't get through it.  Also (and this irrelevant to how I felt about the actual storyline but whatever), the main character's name is Barry. BARRY. Really? You couldn't think of another name that doesn't rhyme with Harry? I feel that naming the character Barry has given me false hope. Like halfway through the book, he would just rip off a mask and be like "SURPRISE! IT'S ME, HARRY POTTER!" and then the story will turn into the "Nineteen Years Later" part in The Deathly Hallows. (If you've read the first few pages of The Casual Vacancy then you will realise that it would not be possible for Barry to turn into Harry, but I will reveal no spoilers here. JUST LET ME DREAM OKAY?!)

I'm so weird.

I really super loved The Hunger Games and Attachments, however. I tend to like books that are of a fantasy genre, romancey lovey-dovey genre, or both, so of course I was going to enjoy these ones. I read the shit out of these books, so much that my neck was constantly sore whilst devouring them. Devouring? Perhaps that was a bad word choice as I did not actually eat them. Anyway, I'm sure you would know about The Hunger Games, so I won't write anything about it, but Attachments is really interesting and worthy of your time. It's basically about an IT guy who falls in love with a girl through reading her e-mails. Sounds a bit creepy but I assure you it isn't.

(Unicorn not included)

Books I have yet to read:
Why We Broke Up by Daniel Handler
His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman

I think I might start on His Dark Materials next because I have always wanted to read these books! Why We Broke Up seems pretty cool as well - it has a teacup on the cover so it has to be good. Right? Right.

I would readily accept any book suggestions that you may have also! What is your favourite? That is all. Goodbye!

video o'clock

Watch in HD! OR ELSE.

I made a video! Now my face is all up in yo grillz. I hope you like it and don't think I'm a big silly sausage. Catch you on the flipside y'all! (Not sure why I think I'm all gangsta now. DAWG.)

PS: Why yes, those purple polka dotted curtains are from the children's section of Spotlight. I thought you would be jealous.

sydney time

Hello! Gareth and I went to Sydney this past weekend and had a jolly marvellous time. On the Friday, we wandered around the city for a good ten hours and saw many a thing. In the first two photos you can see that the road was closed off and covered in confetti. Turns out we arrived in the city just as some parade for the Sydney Swans was happening. I don't give a shit about AFL, or most sport in general, but it made for some cool photos and for that I was pleased. On the same street happened to be the new Topshop, which had just opened the day before! Super duper exciting. And Zara was just around the corner! Ohh Sydney, you have the best ideas. Also, you may notice from the photographs that I made friends with a gigantic cupcake person. I wasn't not going to get a photo with it. IT'S A GIANT CUPCAKE. Bye!

my little house

Well hello there! Long time, no see. I thought that it was perhaps time to show you my new house, being that I have now lived here for close to six months. So it's not quite so new anymore. Eek.

I really, really, really like living here. Apart from a brief stint in London for six months, this is the first time I've lived out of home, and it is pretty damn cool. As you can see, I have a marvellous view of Moreton Bay, which I can look at from my Union Jack-clad bed. Ooohh I am enjoying myself very much indeed.

I do feel a bit shitty for not having blogged for so long. I think it's been at least three months now. I originally started this blog to document my life, and what I wear whilst I am living said life, but to be honest I have not been feeling the best about either things lately, and so the thought of blogging just makes me go "eeeeuughhh". When I say I haven't been feeling the best, I don't mean that in a depressing sad Sally kinda way. I just mean that nothing really has been happening apart from uni and work, and those things are both pretty silly. And in terms of the wearing of clothes, I've put on a bit of weight over the past few months, which makes me feel a bit shit. If my calculations are correct, moving out of home + having complete control of fridge contents = EXTREME AMOUNTS OF ICE-CREAM. I'm not overweight by any means, but I have gotten a bit of excess chubbiness that I would very much like to go away now please. Because of this, I just feel like crap no matter what I wear, so taking photos of outfits is very much out of the question. It is my fault for loving cake and hating exercise. Booo.

So it is my plan to try and fix the things in my life that I feel a bit poopy about. Eat less, exercise more, make some pals that make me happy, be less lazy about uni (and things in general really), get into something new. And writing it down here means that it will be embarrassing should I fail to accomplish these things.

I don't know how this post turned into such a ramble festival, because really I just wanted to show you my new house! But then words came out of my fingers and fell onto the keyboard or something. Yes. I hope that you are well and all that. See ya later alligator!

gif party

Here, have some gifs of my multiple silly faces! I had to take these photos for two "identity" themed assignments for uni. I've only got two exams left now and then HOLIDAYS! Wheeeeeeee! Time to sit around eating dickloads of EasyMac whilst watching Gossip Girl season five for the second time. Ohhh yeah, I know how to partay.

I've just bought a whole heap of winter clothes (OH BOY OH BOY OH BOY) so I'll have to get back into doing outfit photos. I haven't done any for ages! Winter is the best season for clothing. It's not even that cold yet, but I've been pretty much living in colourful jumpers with fun patterned collars sticking out over the top. Hurray for weather commentary! That's what you all wanted to read about, I know. Toodleooooo!
