moving out happy time

I've been to Ikea about three times in the last week. This may seem excessive, but I'm moving out in April (!!!) so I want to get some ideas on furniture and home decoration. Also, breakfast at Ikea costs $2.95, and a hotdog is $1.

The main things I want to get are a loft bed and a dressing table. I want my makeup collection to be a little more organised. At the moment it's just a giant pile of crap scattered throughout my room. It kind of deters me from trying out different makeup looks because I can't be arsed searching through it all to find the right eyeshadow/lipstick/eyeliner/whatevz. It's a bit of a shame because I really like playing with makeup. The same can be said for my wardrobe. Having too many clothes sometimes puts me off experimenting with outfits etc, if you know what I mean. I have too many clothes for my own good. I wish my wardrobe led to Narnia, so I could store some of my crap in Mr Tumnus' house.

Does anybody have any clever suggestions for me? I'm really shit at organisational things. How do you organise your wardrobe/dressing table/bedroom in general so that you don't feel as though you want to cry whenever you look at it? I will leave you with some pictures of my ideal bedroom in a magical faraway world.

  1. Ikea is the best isn't it?!

I really love looking at homey stuff, almost as good as clothes!

  2. This site gave me some great inspiration for when I moved into my one bedroom bachelor pad

Make sure you browse the previous years' entries as well. You might want to read up on colour matching too (i.e. pairing furniture against existing walls/floors), alot of girls who think they have style tend to ignore this fact.

Also don't be a bore and buy everything from Ikea. Sure, they've hired some great designers but your blog shows you have a little more creativity than that. Start scanning Ebay and Gumtree, the less you spend on furniture the more you can spend on wine (or shoes, whatever).

I love IKEA food! One of the best parts of the entire experience ^^ I'm afraid I'm awful at organisation too, but I really love the inspiration pictures you picked here!

  4. I'm an Ikea addict too, you arn't alone. The food there is yummy and cheap too (fish and chips!)
I am obsessed with interior design too at the moment. Good luck with stylin' your bedroom! xx

  5. Ohhh those pictures are so awesome! I've never had a mirror in my room so I always have to run to the bathroom and jump atop the toilet to see how my outfit looks. It can get agravating. I've only been to ikea once and I bought straws so I have a ton of these green and bluestriped straws just chillin in my kitchen.
As for makeup, have you ever thought of buying a palatte? I have a Coastal Scents palatte and it's so convenient! I especially love wetting a tiny brush and using the black powder as eyeliner. The onther day i accidedntly rubbed my eye and I thought I had rubbed it all off, but it was still on and looked just fine! awww yeah

How did your surgery go? I forgot to ask you (sorrryyy) I hope you are all well and fine my love. <333

  6. Wow, yesterday me and my friends were talking about how cheap and good hotdogs in IKEA are, ahah. I really love IKEA and all those pretty and cheap things! I moved in September to my new house and I went to IKEA to buy some new things and to organize my stuff I bought those kind of little boxes (I dont't know the word) to put in my drawers! They're great to organize makeup!

  12. In reply to your comment, I agree Breaking Dawn was crap. It was slow at the start, then it got slightly interesting, then the birth scene D: That was just wayyyyy to gruesome! It was a 12's movie! They stick a knife into her while she is still awake! Worst part is where her spine breaks backwards...the noise was just horrible. Sorry for ranting but I really was creeped out!

  14. I'm really horrible at organizing things, too! I usually just stuff things in closets or under my bed. I've seen some good organizing tips on pinterest.com, though!

  18. Hahah your comment about Narnia made me laugh.

I'm pretty terrible at organizing so i don't think i have any great tips... but i store make up on a small plastic box with drawers maybe you should check into that? ^.^ + those pics are awesome, the bed/desk is genius!

  19. oh my god, i looooove organizing!! my makeup suggestion (since i assume you're going to be living alone like i do) is to use a few of the mugs or bowls from your dinnerware to serve as makeup holders. I know I didn't need 6 mugs in the kitchen, nor did I have room for them, but they're great on my bathroom shelf! I have one for lipsticks, one for lip glosses, one for eyeliners, etc.

p.s. i know that katie already commented on this thread, but dangit, i couldn't resist. in my next life, i'm going to be a professional organizer. :)

  23. Totally have insane amounts of room envy right now, so many pretty dressers! That blue one especially. I wish I could offer you some storage advice, however my wardrobe recently collapsed due to the sheer weight of all the clothes haphazardly stuffed into it so I am in no position to! I'm sure your new place is going to be a beaut though :) xx

  29. I spotted some Irregular Choice heels in the first picture! LOL (I am obsessed with shoes, especially IC!) That room setup is unfair. Totally unfair. Having a husband certainly makes for a messy room no matter what. At least I get a closet all to myself! Yay me. I literally turned a small bedroom into a closet, because up here in Jersey, old houses have closets the size of a shoe box and that just wasn't going to work for me.
Also, I am beyond obsessed with that turquoise-y vintage looking vanity set. My husband keeps wanting to buy me one, but I don't want just any one that we see at Target or Bed Bath and Beyond...I want THIS one that you posted! Or one like it. ;)
