skincare time

A little while ago, I wrote rather a lengthy post about acne, and how I managed to overcome mine. Out of everything I had tried over the nine years of having acne, there have been two things that have worked, both of which I am still using to this day. I am currently on medication called Oratane (sometimes called Accutane) which is extremely effective, but also causes your skin to become very dry and sensitive in the first few months of use. I've been on this medication for a year now, and my skin is now pretty normal, but I would still describe it as being quite sensitive. Because of this, I need a skincare regime that doesn't turn my face into a big red flaky mess.

Every day and night, I use the Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish and the Skin Repair Moisturiser for dry/sensitive skin. Sometimes I use the skin tonic but only if I am in a particularly non-lazy mood (which is rare). You'll notice in the photos above that I'm only using a sample sized moisturiser - this is because a) I've used up the full sized jar and b) usually when you order something, you receive some free samples as well, which always makes me a happy camper. In February I received the Liz Earle Gentle Face Exfoliator to use in addition to these products. Here is what it looks like:

As you can see it's quite a creamy consistency, with just the right amount of graininess. The Cleanse & Polish is a similar consistency to this, except without the graininess, and is applied to a dry face and wiped off with a hot cloth. I have found that using the cleanser with the hot cloth is all I need to use (in addition to moisturiser), as it removes every trace of makeup and dirt whilst exfoliating the skin at the same time. I think the Gentle Face Exfoliator would be more suitable for someone with very dry skin that needs extra exfoliation. I do think it is a wonderful smelling, brilliantly packaged product though, and it doesn't turn my face into a big scaly mess, which is always a bonus!

I hope that this was helpful to somebody, and I'd really love to hear if anyone else uses Liz Earle products. I don't want to sound like a broken record, but I really cannot recommend it enough. This is the only skincare range that I have ever used consistently and have continued to buy. Obviously it won't work for some people, but personally I can never see myself using anything else.

I hope you're having a glorious weekend. Bye bye!

  3. I don't have a skin care regimen :-/ bad, I know. I just use whatever I am using for soap that week to wash my face and that is it. I really need to start taking better care of my skin. This stuff sounds and looks lovely. I should try it. I really could use a moisturizer.

  4. I have never used Liz Earle products but they definitely sound interesting. I have oily skin that is sensitive and I have found few products that actually work for me.

P.S. We are having a giveaway over on our blog for a personalized necklace. If you have time please stop by and enter.

  6. After trying the hot cloth cleanser, it has cleared up my breakouts a lot more and i dont have to wear foundation as much these days (to cover the blemishes). I'm trying the toner and moisturiser soon, but I'm definitely considering changing from lancome to liz earle. So eager to get clear skin! You've convinced me to buy the exfoliator too! xxx

  7. It's still so hard to believe you ever dealt with such bad acne, because your skin looks radiant in all your pictures! I have never used these products. I pretty much just use a salicylic acid scrub everyday. (I think that's what it's called.) But I do need a good moisturizer because not only is my skin sensitive and oily, but on the contrary it gets suuuper dry, too! WTF?! I hate it. I have been putting a Neutrogena body wrap lotion on my face, but I think it's making my face more oily, so I'll need to remedy this quickly. I don't recall ever seeing Liz Earle products in stores I visit, so I need to google that. :)

  9. i'm not big on skin care (not that I don't take care of my skin, I'm just used to a certain range of products by now that changing will just make my skin freak out), but I know my mom's always out on the lookout for the best skin care. I think I might recommend these to her :)

  12. A little comforting to hear that someone else has been on Accutane for a year as well! I'm still dealing with a major side effect from it though. I'd thought that a whole year on the medication was ridiculously long and perhaps that was the reason for it. But at least now I know taking it for a year isn't as unusual as I thought :)
